Here are some questions to help you determine if your planning process addresses all the things, and contains all the kinds of ingredients, that will assure your continued success against all odds.
1. Do you have core values, 3 to 5 single words that define your culture,
the principles that your organization would care about no matter what
business you are in?
2. Does your mission statement answer the question, "Why are we in business?"
in a single sentence that is focused on the membership?
3. Is your corporate vision statement focused on the communities you serve,
ideals you want to see manifested in several decades?
4. Have you developed several statements of strategy, corporate 'behaviors'
that guide management in branches, marketing, and other activities;
that set you apart from all the others?
5. Does management have the job of developing measurable 'ends' to achieve
from 1 to 10 years in the future?
6. Does management involve all the employees in developing the operational goals
that foster execution?
