Better Board Meetings

Description

A board meeting is the epicenter of decisions assuring a bright future – with aftershocks felt years later. In boards of for-profits, credit unions and other nonprofit, the board business meeting is where directors’ collective wisdom, as a board, meets with the expertise of management. The meeting’s 4 key functions are often hampered unintentionally by detractors such as habits, myths, and folklore. These detractors dampen the awesome potential of this face-to-face time.

This program challenges common meeting practices and offers new ideas and techniques to increase your meeting’s value – and ultimately increase the health, growth and responsiveness of your organization.

  • Know the importance of a vision-driven agenda.
  • Pare down agenda materials to the essentials.
  • Reiterate the benefits of  rules of order for small boards.
  • Know how to become future-oriented by maximizing “windshield” time.
  • Be able to use tips and tactics to deal with difficult directors. *
